NIB OSHC Refund & Cancellation
If your study or visa circumstances change, NIB provides a process for requesting an OSHC refund or cancellation.
How to request a NIB OSHC refund
NIB says members can log in to the online member account, open My Policy → Payments and choose “Request a refund or cancel policy”. The form asks for the reason and supporting documents. If you cannot access the account, NIB also provides an OSHC refund form.
When could a refund be relevant?
Examples can include changed study plans, visa outcomes or other circumstances affecting the required period of OSHC. Eligibility for any refund depends on NIB’s current rules and the evidence for your circumstances.
Check your visa position before cancelling
OSHC is tied to Student visa health-cover requirements. Do not create an unintended gap in required cover. If you are changing insurer, extending study or moving to another visa, coordinate the effective dates carefully.
Keep your records
Retain your refund request, supporting evidence and any updated cover certificate. NIB’s OSHC Fund Rules also contemplate notification to the Department of Home Affairs in certain cancellation/refund circumstances where permission has been given.
